Phillip Doggett-Williams is an established Melbourne/Geelong based artist with experience spanning more than 4 decades encompassing a broad spectrum of artistic practice, teaching, arts consultancy and curatorial practice. He is a painter, sculpture and printmaker but has also worked in collaborations that include theatre, performance, and community education. Doggett-Williams is a graduate of RMIT Fine Arts (1978) having studied printmaking under the late George Baldessin and Graeme King, sculpture under Anthony Pryor, and painting under Andrew Sibley and Ron Miller. His artworks are represented in major collections including the Australian National Gallery, Canberra, Artbank and the Gallery of NSW.
He is a resident of Belmont, Geelong, having moved from Melbourne to the region with his artist wife Shelley Hannigan and their two children, Joseph and Thomas in 1999. Whilst having built his reputation as a Melbourne artist he has a long standing artistic association to Southern coast of Victoria having drawn and painted the surf coast region and Otway Ranges for more than 30 years.
Phillip is the co-founder and Director of the access print studio ‘Sunshine Print Artspace’ (SPA). SPA is an artist collective situated in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne within the premises of Fundere Sculpture Foundry. In 2022 along with his wife Shelley Hannigan also purchased the former NAB bank in Balmoral, Victoria in the Southern Grampians to establish the Balmoral Artspace as a gallery and Artist in Residence facility specializing in stone lithography.
